Facilitation Training

Lead Meetings with Confidence and Drive Change

Facilitation is more than a skill – it’s a way of holding space that shifts how people work together. When done well, it unlocks trust, clarity, and momentum. In a world full of noise, skilled facilitators create the kind of environments where real dialogue happens and change becomes possible.

At Habitus, our facilitation training program is designed for organisations who want more than just efficient meetings. We develop confident, capable, and engaging facilitators who can navigate complexity, elevate group intelligence, and help to build cultures of psychological safety and collaboration.

Why Choose Habitus for Facilitation Training?

Our facilitation program is grounded in anthropological insights, evidence-based theory and practical experience. We focus on developing internal facilitation skills that enable participants to:

  • Understand and manage group dynamics
  • Nurture psychological safety
  • Encourage inclusive participation
  • Navigate challenging conversations with confidence

By integrating these skills, teams can transform their interactions, leading to more effective outcomes and a stronger organisational culture.

What Does Facilitation Training Involve?

Our facilitation workshops for teams are designed to be immersive and experiential. Participants engage in real-world scenarios that mirror the challenges faced in today's workplaces. Through this approach, they learn to:

  • Apply facilitation techniques in diverse settings
  • Build trust and rapport among team members
  • Adapt to varying communication styles
  • Lead with empathy and clarity

Each session is tailored to address the unique needs of the participants, ensuring relevance and immediate applicability. We’ll teach you to bring energy, create calm, discover depth, drive ideation, build connection, and more importantly, how to know when and where to do so.

Facilitation Program Outline

Module 1 - The Facilitator

Facilitators aren’t just people who “run the room.” They’re the ones who help bring meaning to complexity. In this module, we focus on who you are when you stand in front of the group.

You’ll explore:

  • Your facilitation presence – how you enter a space and hold it
  • The impact of power and bias on group dynamics
  • How to lead with clarity without needing control
  • Practising vulnerability as a strength, not a liability
  • What it means to be a relational facilitator in real time

Module 2 - The Room

Every room has a current – spoken and unspoken. Skilled facilitators know how to feel it, name it, and work with it. This module builds your capacity to navigate uncertainty and hold emotional complexity.

We’ll explore:

  • How to establish psychological safety (and why it's fragile)
  • Tools for drawing out quiet voices and tempering dominant ones
  • What to do when things get sticky: resistance, silence, or spirals
  • Using group dynamics as information, not interruption
  • Building trust, not just control, in your facilitation training spaces

Module 3 - The Toolbox

While presence is foundational, tools still matter. In this final module, we introduce practical methods that support meaningful, engaged participation – whether you're working internally or with external stakeholders.

You’ll learn:

  • Core structures for inclusive facilitation workshops for teams
  • Designing sessions that balance structure and emergence
  • Adapting formats to suit in-person and virtual environments
  • Activities that support connection, clarity, and conflict navigation
  • Building an evolving toolkit of internal facilitation skills

I absolutely loved every aspect of the Facilitation Training delivered by Habitus. It was an incredibly enriching experience that surpassed my expectations. Firstly, Dr Monty Badami’s expertise as an anthropologist brought a unique perspective to the training, emphasising the importance of human-centred interactions. This approach resonated deeply with me and the team as it highlighted the significance of authenticity and storytelling in leadership. The atmosphere created during the training was one of warmth and openness, allowing everyone to connect on a human level. I appreciated the emphasis on creating a psychologically and emotionally safe space, which fostered genuine dialogue and collaboration. Overall, I loved how the training encouraged us to embrace vulnerability and authenticity, ultimately empowering us to lead with empathy, creativity and have some fun while we do it!

I gained a deeper understanding of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and the importance of authenticity in leadership. The practical sessions and storytelling were a definite highlight for the team, providing real life tools and strategies to engage and inspire others. I learned how to create a psychologically safe environment where individuals feel empowered to share their ideas and perspectives openly. I also learned the art of deep listening and humble inquiry, (Socratic questioning!) which are essential skills for effective facilitation and collaboration. Overall, I am grateful for the wealth of knowledge and skills I acquired during the training, which I am eager to apply in my facilitation journey.
